PlayStation India has released a statement letting avid Indian fans know when pre-orders for the latest Sony console will start. They will be open on January 12, 2021 on 12:00 IST, and can be made on online platforms such as Flipkart, Amazon.in, Croma and Reliance Digital. They will also be available through some other retailers such as Vijay Sales and Sony Center.
This long-awaited event will precede the launch of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) in India. This will take place on February 2, 2021. This might be good news for many gamers, but still represents a considerable delay compared to Sony's original schedule, in which it was to launch the console in this market on November 19, 2020.
The reasons for this are still unclear. Then again, the OEM has at least released the Indian-market prices for the PS5. The digital edition will cost INR 39,990 (US$547), whereas the standard edition will be INR 49,990 ($684).
Accessories such as the DualSense wireless controller will also be sold for INR 5,990 ($82). Hopefully, there will be enough units for everybody who wants one in this market...for once.
