Google has announced a new update for the Fitbit Ace LTE, named Season 3 - Family Matters. The software brings a host of new features to the kids smartwatch and the accompanying Ace app for parents and guardians.
First up is a family group chat functionality, allowing you to simultaneously message all members of your Google Family group. Siblings in the Google Family group can now call and message each other when added as contacts in the Ace app. Plus, Google has introduced new Family Quests, where you work together to reach move goals and unlock rewards; the first quest, Turkey Berserky, is launching on November 18th. On top of this, there is a new Solar Sword Game, the Movement app now shows real-time heart rate on the watch, and there are two additional Noodle watch faces to show move goal progress.
The company also revealed details of a couple of features it is working on for the next update: voice message responses from parents via the Ace app and the ability to download voice messages from your kids. A post in the Fitbit Community forum suggested that the Season 3 update should reach all users by November 14th. The watch will automatically download the update when connected to Wi-Fi and with enough battery power. The Fitbit Ace LTE kids smartwatch, currently $227.99 at Amazon, will be available for $179.95 thanks to a $50 discount at the Google Store from November 21st to December 4th.
