Epson is expanding its product range with the Epson EF-51, a new projector. The device can not only be used for projection, but also as a lamp on a bedside table, for example. Various colors are supported and the lighting can not only be synchronized with the projection, but also activated in the Epson EF-51's standby mode. An app helps to configure the lighting in a comprehensive and easy manner.
The 190 x 190 mm and 249 mm device comes with a fairly long stand, making it a purely pragmatic design. The system can be rotated 180° on the stand and tilted up and down 105°, making setup a breeze. Keystone correction is possible, and according to the manufacturer, projection position can also be adjusted automatically. Technically, the Epson EF-51 is based on 3LCD technology, meaning that three individual LCD screens are used to produce images, which should result in strong color reproduction.
The resolution is stated as 3,840 x 2,160, but this is unlikely to be the native resolution without pixel shifting. The maximum brightness is listed at 700 lumens and the throw ratio at 1.2:1. A projection size of between 30 and 150 inches is recommended. Lastly, the 3.9-kilogram projector also supports ALLM and wireless screen projection.
In China, the model has a price tag of around $734. Information on a global release is still pending.
