The Jmgo P5X portable projector has been released in China. It arrives as a successor to last year’s P5 and is billed as an entry-level 1080p model. The company suggests that it could be used in a living room, bedroom or outdoors for watching movies or e-sports.
The P5X has an LED light source for up to 420 ISO lumens brightness with 124% coverage of the Rec.709 color gamut. This DLP projector has a native 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 px) resolution with support for HDR10 and MEMC motion smoothing. There is an intelligent PTZ algorithm to help you quickly perfect the image, and an upcoming Giant Screen mode, arriving in June via an OTA update, is sasid to deliver a 70% larger image.
Another feature of the P5X is dynamic lighting effects with six presets and a wide range of colors to choose from. Bonfire OS 7 provides access to a wide range of streaming services. Plus, as part of the wider Xiaomi ecosystem, the Jmgo projector can be connected to other Xiaomi smart home devices and remotely controlled via the brand’s app or with Xiao AI voice commands. There is a built-in 8W speaker with support for DTS decoding. On top of this, there is an optional 3-in-1 charging stand that has an integrated 2,000-mAh battery and allows you to easily adjust the projection height or angle; the projector is otherwise powered via USB-C.
Jmgo is selling the P5Z portable projector for CNY 1,646 (~$228) in China. The company has yet to announce any plans to bring this model to other regions like the US, where it already sells the N1S Ultra (curr. $1,699 at Amazon) and other projectors.
