Dbrand accessories appeal to mobile gamers as they are well-built and easy to customize. However, the Killswitch Switch 2 case is proving divisive, with some buyers questioning its design. These owners complain that it causes the console's Joy-Cons to detach too easily. Other Nintendo fans claim that the case doesn't work as advertised when used with the Switch 2 dock.
Although dbrand admits that the magnetic Joy-Cons slip off with force applied, its response hasn't satisfied all buyers. According to the company, Nintendo placed a gap between the controllers and the edges of the handheld. The goal was to prevent gamers from unintentionally detaching the Joy-Cons. Unfortunately, the dbrand Switch 2 case fills in this space. Consequently, Reddit is full of videos of the system falling onto surfaces after users grip one of the Joy-Cons.
The manufacturer explains that the problem shouldn't occur with normal use, where hands also grip the back of the Switch 2. Yet, many customers argue that there are legitimate reasons to grasp only the controllers. For example, a player might need the use of one hand while maintaining a grip on a single Joy-Con.
To make matters worse, gamers are struggling to use the accessory with the Switch 2 dock. The Killswitch ships with an adapter that's supposed to allow docking without removing the case. Sadly, one buyer documented how attempting to hold the adapter with one hand resulted in it falling off. It's also challenging to align the console with the dock's slot. Owners are seeing a "No Signal" message on their TVs due to these difficulties.
Dbrand plans to adjust the manufacturing process of the Switch 2 case. Yet, it admits that these changes likely won't stop all accidental Joy-Con detachments. Considering the Killswitch is more expensive than alternatives, some buyers are regretting their purchase.
