Anyone who has been following the leaks closely over the past few weeks will already be familiar with the supposed specs of the DJI Mini 5 Pro, albeit based on incorrectly printed packaging from a copy shop. Now, however, a smartphone photo on Reddit reveals the back of an official retail box, or at least an important section of it, namely the key specs. The photo was apparently taken in very poor lighting conditions, perhaps at night. So we have taken the liberty of brightening the image below a little.
The most important details are still recognizable: DJI advertises an ultra-lightweight and foldable mini-drone that, for the first time, features a 1-inch sensor and supports 4K120 slow-motion video. The gimbal can be rotated 225 degrees and supports vertical shots, while the camera offers a virtual 48mm telephoto mode (presumably via crop zoom). For better obstacle detection, also at night, LiDAR sensors for 360-degree obstacle avoidance are integrated on the front. DJI's Active Track for object tracking, such as when running or cycling, is supported. However, the 52-minute flight time mentioned here may surprise some, as the aforementioned leak from several weeks ago stated a flight time of 36 mins.
The answer to this riddle can be found further down, where the contents of the packaging are listed. This appears to be the retail box for the Fly More Combo Plus, which was last seen from the front. Instead of the regular batteries, the box contains three "Flight Battery Plus" batteries, which allow for significantly longer continuous flight times but likely raise the weight of the mini drone above the 250-gram limit for CO2-rated drones. Also included is the DJI RC2 controller and an ND filter set. Whether these Plus packages will also be available in Europe and elsewhere in the future remains to be seen.
Update: Packaging with contents
Shortly after our news went online, we noticed a tweet from @KietN7650 on X showing the main contents of the DJI Mini 5 Pro packaging, the drone itself and the DJI RC2 controller switched on.
