The DJI Mavic 3 series has been around for a while now, having debuted in November 2021 with the release of the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine (curr. $4,599 on Amazon). Since then, DJI has introduced various models, culminating in the Mavic 3 Pro that arrived in early 2023. More recently, it has focused on expanding its other drone series with the likes of the Mini 4K, Air 3 and the Avata 2.
Until recently, reliable drone leakers had suggested that any true Mavic 3 series successors were a while off from being announced. However, @OsitaLV and @Quadro_News have now tweeted footage of what the latter claims to be the Mavic 4. Incidentally, the pair have recently shared equivalent images of the Osmo Action 5 Pro action camera, which we have covered separately.
Ultimately, few details about the Mavic 4 are known yet. A few can be inferred though, such as the inclusion of three cameras. For context, DJI equipped the Mavic 3 with 24 mm (4/3-inch) primary and 162 mm (1/2-inch CMOS) telephoto cameras, which it supplemented with a 70 mm (1/3-inch) 'medium tele' camera for the release of the Mavic 3 Pro. Although it remains to be seen whether DJI has made any sensor changes this time around, @OsitaLV believes that the company has included a new gimbal mechanism, evidence of which you can see in the video below.
Moreover, it appears that the Mavic 4 features a new chassis with additional cameras. Again, their uses remain unclear for the time being. With that being said, we imagine that they are there for obstacle-avoidance purposes. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing or a release date yet, either.
