Leakers reveal first promotional image of rumoured DJI Air 3S drone
DJI has now been selling the Air 3 for over a year, having presented the Air 2 and Air 2S successor on July 25 2023. In recent weeks, it appeared that a follow-up to the Air 3 could be DJI's next drone. However, that now appears to be the Neo, which could be the company's smallest drone to date.
A new image of the Air 3S suggests that the Air 3 (curr. $1,549 on Amazon) could soon be with us too, though. Reproduced by renowned drone leakers like @JasperEllens, @OsitaLV and @Quadro_News, the image looks legitimate and matches previous leaks. Still, there is a chance that the image has been manipulated in some way or another. Nonetheless, the Air 3S is expected to resemble the Air 3 in many areas, albeit with a few tweaks.
For instance, DJI is believed to have adopted a 1-inch type sensor as the Air 3S primary camera, which would be a significant upgrade over the existing 1/1.3-inch sensor used in the Air 3. Additionally, DJI has adopted a new gimbal and camera housing set-up, although the exact changes in these areas remain unknown for now. Likewise, the intended use of the reflective area between the drone's obstacle avoidance sensors is currently unclear. For reference, some sources have speculated that this may be for a LiDAR sensor; no evidence has emerged to back up that claim yet, though.
