Resident Evil Requiem has already racked up a major win in terms of engagement, with more than 1 million users expressing interest in the title

The next major installment in Capcom’s iconic survival horror franchise, Resident Evil 9, better known as Resident Evil Requiem, has hit a major milestone nearly 8 months before it officially releases.
The publisher announced earlier that Resident Evil 9 has garnered over one million wishlists across various digital storefronts in under a month, a staggering milestone to achieve. Capcom shared the news on its official social media handle on X, thanking fans with the following message.

Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the over one million of you who wishlisted #ResidentEvilRequiem! Thank You!

Resident Evil 9 has been available to wishlist on digital storefronts like the PlayStation Store and Steam since its reveal earlier this month. The staggering number of users already wishlisting it is indicative of a strong anticipation of what’s to occur in the franchise’s upcoming installment.

Resident Evil Requiem was originally revealed as a surprise final announcement at the Summer Game Fest 2025. Capcom showcased a cinematic trailer introducing Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst and the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak, released in 2003 on the PlayStation 2.

Players will finally return to Raccoon City, as Grace investigates the Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, was murdered. The trailer for Resident Evil 9 included shots of the devastated remains of Raccoon City, along with ruins of the R.P.D. featured in Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil Requiem is expected to follow the success of Resident Evil Village, which sold three million copies within the first four days, and 11.3 million units by March 2025. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023) raked in an impressive 9.9 million copies. These numbers set a high bar for Resident Evil Requiem’s sales within the first week of launch.

Resident Evil Requiem is slated for release on February 27, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. Fans can look forward to new gameplay footage at Capcom’s Spotlight event slated for June 26, with a hands-on demo planned for Gamescom this August.
