The fast-paced action shooter game RUINER has received a massive discount on the Microsoft Store. It generally goes for $19.99 when there's no sale in place, but the title is now down to $1.99, which translates to a hefty 90% price cut. It's worth noting that this deal will end on July 7, 2025.
For those interested in learning more about the game, RUINER is set in the cyberpunk metropolis of Rengkok. Players get to take the role of a faceless cyborg assassin. While the protagonist is initially tasked to assassinate the Boss of a powerful conglomerate called Heaven, he later learns that his brother has been kidnapped.
With the help of a mysterious hacker friend called Her, the protagonist fights through the corrupt mercenaries and uncovers the truth behind the kidnapping. Besides being fast-paced, the combat system of the game that's currently on sale is considered to be somewhat brutal.
Players get access to a large collection of high-tech firearms and cybernetic gadgets. There are hacking mechanics as well, which allow the players to strategize the fights. RUINER also has a skill system, which players can progress through to eventually become a killing machine by the end of the story.
When it comes to the visuals, the game that's currently discounted is heavily inspired by the classic cyberpunk culture. It features dark, neon-lit futuristic environments, and the soundtrack goes well with the overall theme. There's an unlockable New Game+ mode with increased difficulty, which makes RUINER replayable.
Other than that, the game is well-received by players, and it currently has a "Very Positive" review on Steam with over 9,500 player reviews. It also has relatively relaxed minimum system requirements, making it run well on most decently specced gaming PCs and handhelds (Lenovo Legion Go curr. $499.99 on Amazon).
