After testing the waters with the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition and the more recent Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon has brought the color display experience to its largest Kindle with the launch of the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is one of three new Kindle Scribe models that Amazon announced at its 2025 fall event. The new Kindle Scribe has an 11-inch Colorsoft display with a 300 ppi for Black and White and a 150 ppi for color. The display, which has an adjustable warm light, is housed in an aluminum body and surrounded by bezels of equal thickness.
Save for the Colorsoft display, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has the same specs as the Kindle Scribe (3rd generation) with Front Light. This means a paper-like writing experience, the same thin and light design, and AI software features. It also has a quad core-processor and more memory than the first generation Kindle Scribe.
Available in Graphite and Fig, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft can be purchased in 32GB and 64GB storage options. It comes with a matching Premium Pen which doesn't require charging as it is battery-free. Amazon says users will be able to choose from 10 pen colors, 5 highlighters, and a shader tool for subtle gradients and overlays.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft also has data encryption, the ability to set a PIN code to protect your notes from prying eyes, and is tamper resistant. It also has a sleep timer that automatically turns off the screen when it's inactive.
The spec sheet also reveals that it has dual-band Wi-Fi and a USB-C port for connectivity. According to Amazon, the battery of the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft can last up to 8 weeks on a single charge (30 minutes of reading per day, Wi-Fi off, and brightness level at 13). That battery life drops to 2 weeks if you solely use it for writing (30 minutes of writing per day). A full charge takes 2.5 hours with a 20W USB-C adapter.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has a starting price of $629.99 for the 32GB version and goes up to $679.99 for the 64GB version. It will be available later this year. When it arrives, it will be going up against rivals such as the reMarkable Paper Pro which has a larger 11.8-inch color screen and starts at $629. There's also the BOOX Note Air4 C (available on Amazon for $529.99) that has a slightly smaller screen but 64GB of storage and runs Android.
