Amazfit Body Composition Analyser Mat appears as new accessory for smartwatches
The Amazfit Body Composition Analyser Mat has appeared on the company’s website in France and Italy. The device is exclusively used with the newer Balance fitness-tracking smartwatch launched last year. However, how customers can purchase the gadget remains unclear.
The Body Composition Analyser Mat has been designed to help you track eight health metrics: body fat, muscle, bone mass, BMI, skeletal muscle, water, protein and basal metabolism. The mat uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) technology, sending pulses through your body via the stainless steel electrodes you stand on. While the Balance watch already captures these metrics, Amazfit suggests that the wearable is restricted to the upper body, and the mat can take measurements from the lower body, which are combined to improve the accuracy of the results.
Results are viewable in a “mini” analyzer app, giving you a holistic overview of your health. Amazfit states that this is not a medical device and cannot be used to diagnose any condition. The Amazfit Body Composition Analyser Mat is listed as costing €39.90. However, the company notes that the product is only available as part of a bundle or through marketing activities; it does not provide further details on either of these options. It is also unclear whether the product designed for use with Amazfit Balance smartwatch will be offered in other markets like North America.
