The Tank Pad has the same kind of "drop-proof, 360° dust-proof" IP68/69-rated chassis as one of 8849's new smartphones - however, it is considerably larger as it is the first tablet of its line.
It might thus be actually a little easier to carry thanks to the optional handle/stand that can join the generous "useful outdoor light" and projector (albeit with a max brightness of 100 lumens in that case) on the newly expanded version of the Tank-series rear panel.
The new tablet has the same kind of processing power with the Dimensity 8200 SoC, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable memory it comes with out of the box; in other words, it the tablet version of the Tank 3 Pro smartphone.
Ironically, the newer and bigger device of the 2 has the smaller battery, as it is rated for 21,000mAh in capacity.
The Tank Pad also charges slower with the 66W power brick that comes in the box.
Then again, 8849 asserts that it is the better device to have if the user gets bored with their camping trip and wants to watch a movie, thanks to its larger 10.95-inch display that has the same FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate as the 3 Pro.
It follows that it also has the same Android 14-based OS, in a world almost ready to move on to Android 16.
The Tank Pad has debuted on 8849tech.com at a price of $599 - although it has also shown up on Amazon at $589.99, with a limited-time $40 off coupon at the time of writing.
