Laptops are now beginning to ship with 32 GB DDR4 SODIMM modules
The race to cram even higher memory densities into a single DIMM module just got more interesting. Samsung announced earlier this year that it had cracked the code to begin manufacturing 32 GB DDR4 modules and high-end resellers like Eurocom are only now starting to ship laptops that utilize these massive RAM options.
Intel addresses CPU supply issues in an open letter
It's no secret that Intel is feeling the heat from competitor AMD. Not only is the Ryzen series getting better and cheaper, Intel itself has been facing problems getting its own chips onto store shelves. Intel CPU prices have been steadily rising as a result. In response, the chipmaker will invest an additional $1 billion USD in "capital expenditures" by the end of this year to alleviate supply constraints.
Unconfirmed Surface Pro 6 images leak ahead of official Microsoft event
It's common for leaks to begin ramping up in the days ahead of a major press event. The days leading up to CES, for example, are often filled with leaks and images that somehow circumvented NDA. The Microsoft Surface event is currently scheduled for October 2nd in New York City and unconfirmed Surface Pro 6 images have already made it online showcasing Kaby Lake-R CPU options, 8 GB of RAM, and more. We'll just have to wait another couple of days to see if these claims are credible.
How much does an iPhone XS Max actually cost to make?
One can argue that a smartphone may be greater than the sum of its parts, but each part will still carry a nominal price no less. In a study carried out by Tech Insights, assembling an iPhone XS Max from start to finish costs Apple an estimated $443 USD with the most expensive three components being the display, processor, and RAM in that order.
