iQOO hypes its upcoming mid-2021 flagship phone's powerful dual main camera set-up
The Vivo sub-brand iQOO is currently gearing up to launch new 8-series smartphones. Those following this process might be forgiven for thinking that the line (slated to consist of vanilla and Pro models) will emerge as versions of the current 7 top-end model, just with the newer Snapdragon 888+ processor and a slightly better screen.
However, iQOO has just revealed that the 8 series will in fact differ further from its OEM's original 2021 flagship in at least 1 more respect: its rear camera hump. The new devices will drop the triangular 48+13+13MP arrangement of the initial Chinese-market model for a more up-to-date housing that draws the eye to 2 main sensors.
One of these is now touted as something called a "micro-cloud platform" sensor of no less than 50MP in resolution, paired with a 48MP ultra-wide angle shooter. The main camera is also now slated to come with optical stabilization (even if it is virtual) and "5-axis anti-shake" technology.
For those who still value multi-camera functions, there is also a smaller f/1.75 sensor, albeit of 16MP this time, with a focal length that can vary between 14 to 60mm. Therefore, the iQOO 8 or 8 Pro may be able to cover many mobile-photography bases while also upholding its brand's reputation for gaming performance.
On the same note, the iQOO 8 devices are also now said to come with the same BMW M Motorsport-themed colorways as the 7. Attractive and unique in the market as they are, they are now also reportedly destined for tweaking in the mid-year upgrades after all.
This rear panel's latest leak hints at a different finish for the tricolor-striped "Legendary" style. The new tip suggests that there might be a new, perhaps sandstone-like this time around, thereby potentially enhancing grip in the upcoming flagship refresh.
