iQOO has decided that it cannot wait until its new mid-range Android smartphones debut to share their new finish options, each complete with new name and back-story, with the world. They are slated to launch as the Neo9 and Neo9 Pro, the latter of which is now tipped to debut with a premium amount of RAM to go with its high-end Dimensity 9300 platform.

The iQOO Neo9 Pro will not be unleashed until later in December 2023, yet is already known as one of the more distinctive new 'gaming' smartphones on the market thanks to its well-hyped two-toned rear panel. Now, the brand has revealed that this color option, to be known as Red and White Soul, is achieved using a "double-grain [vegan leather] splicing" process.

However, it will not be the Neo9 series' only option in terms of appearance. The first alternate Nautical Blue option is backed to feel "as warm and pure as enamel" despite being largely made of glass, whereas Fighting Black might be the most fingerprint-resistant color SKU thanks to its own AG Glass rear panel.

There are also strong hints that the Neo9 Pro will be powered by MediaTek's latest flagship chipset, an official tip that might now also have its Geekbench equivalent. The "V2339A" from iQOO parent company Vivo has surfaced on the benchmark's website with the requisite Dimensity 9300 (marked by its 3.25GHz top clock) SoC.

It is paired to 16GB of RAM in this device, which has propelled it to single-core scores of nearly 2,300 and multi-core scores of ~7,600 on the benchmark. Therefore, the iQOO Neo9 series might indeed be fully up-to-date as premium mid-range smartphones on December 27, 2023.
