Lenovo US has announced the start of its annual sale today (March 3, 2023), an event with savings of up to 75% on a range of ThinkPads, reducing one model in particular to just under US$250 in price. However, despite this attractive prospects a potential customer might be advised to consider whether the PC in question is really the best new machine for the home or office. Then again, there are others on offer that might be.

Lenovo's 'once-a-year-only' (and also, maybe, 'now MWC 2023 is over') sale is now underway on its official website. The OEM is hyping this event with the offer of a new ThinkPad for as little as US$249. The model in question is a compact 360° convertible - the Yoga 11e Gen 5.

Accordingly, the 11.6-inch hinge-equipped PC ships with an HD (that's 1366x768, in 2023) display driven by the Intel Celeron N4120 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Nevertheless, it once went for US$939, a price that has decreased by 73% during this new event.

Then again, the 11e Gen 5 does boast a resilient build and is, after all, a touchscreen PC: therefore, this deal might be best for a customer thinking about a PC for their studies, or that of someone in their family.

However, those planning to make a bigger, yet potentially more cost-effective, investment for their home or home office set-up could consider the ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 (Intel) instead. It is currently offered at up to 75% off its starting price with matte FHD touchscreen and 11th-gen Intel processor options.

Alternatively, the apparently best-selling and originally ~US$2,400 ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 (Intel, 14-inch) is 50% off on lenovo.com right now - with choices of Linux or Windows out of the box to boot. Finally, for those shopping this weekend (March 3-5, 2023), Lenovo has indicated the possibility of extra savings with the code THINKWKNDCLEAR.
