Nintendo has rolled out Version 1.1.1 for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, a 343MB day-one patch that activates Zelda Notes companion app support, including a 2,000-question daily quiz and a virtual ocarina, alongside unspecified fixes ahead of the $59.99 remake’s November 5 launch.

Nintendo has released Version 1.1.1 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, a day before the remake goes on sale on November 5. The update is around 343MB and switches on support for Zelda Notes, the companion service built into the Nintendo Switch App for phones and tablets.

Nintendo’s patch notes, published on its Japanese support page, list two changes. The first adds Zelda Notes support and tells players to follow the on-screen instructions shown at the start of the game to set the service up after updating. The second states that Nintendo has “fixed several issues to ensure you can enjoy the game comfortably,” without naming any of the problems addressed.

Version 1.1.1 is the first patch for the remake, which ships as Version 1.0.0. Early copies already run the updated build, and the full game takes up 24.8GB in the Switch 2’s software management menu. Nintendo routinely issues updates on or before release day for its first-party titles, and Star Fox on Switch 2 received a day-one patch in May.

Consoles with automatic downloads enabled fetch the update in the background. Players can also install it manually by highlighting the game on the Home Menu, pressing the plus or minus button, and selecting Software Update, followed by Via the Internet.

Zelda Notes first launched in 2025 alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo detailed four Ocarina of Time features for the service during the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8.

Today’s Record keeps a chronological log of each day’s accomplishments, including stats such as enemies defeated. Gossip Quest displays a hint image on the phone and challenges players to find that spot in Hyrule, awarding points toward ocarina music scores. Play Ocarina turns the touchscreen into a virtual instrument with guided play, automatic playback, and a composer that shares scores by QR code. The Ocarina of Time Quiz draws on more than 2,000 questions and can be taken once a day, with in-game rupees buying extra attempts.

The service is free to use. It requires a Nintendo Account, an internet connection, and a compatible smart device, but no Nintendo Switch Online membership. The app’s virtual ocarina is separate from the in-game feature that lets players hum or play a real instrument into the Switch 2’s built-in microphone, prompting Link to perform a song he has already learned.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and costs $59.99 on the eShop and $69.99 at retail, where the first print run carries a textured foil cover. UK pricing stands at £49.99 digital and £58.99 physical. The game follows the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console, which went on sale on October 29.
