Animal Crossing adds free Zelda designs for series’ 40th anniversary

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can now dress their characters in a Triforce Tee and carry a Korok Umbrella after Nintendo added both as free custom designs to celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo of Japan announced the designs on October 29, 2026, the same day the company put its Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition of the Switch 2 on sale. Both patterns are published under Nina, the resident of Nintendo’s official Ninten Island, who released Splatoon Raiders designs in July.
The tee carries a Triforce emblem on a dark shirt. The umbrella has a hexagonal canopy decorated with Korok illustrations, with one dark green panel set against tan and beige ones.
Players can collect the designs by visiting Ninten Island in a dream through Dream Address DA-6382-1459-4417. They can also search Nina’s Creator ID, MA-6818-1746-6029, at the Custom Designs Portal in the Able Sisters shop, or enter the individual design codes: MO-BJY7-XKPP-C724 for the Triforce Tee and MO-9FRX-HMW1-WXS6 for the Korok Umbrella. Both routes need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Nintendo also reminded players that a single Zelda amiibo unlocks the game’s wider Zelda collection. Tapping any figure from the series at the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services opens furniture and clothing such as the Triforce and a Zonai inscription gate in the Nook Shopping catalogue, where players buy them with Bells.
The range includes the Master Sword in its pedestal, heart containers, rupees, and outfits drawn from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Nina has furnished her Ninten Island room with the set, so dream visitors can see the pieces before buying. Scanned figures also open the island to two characters from Tears of the Kingdom. Tulin, the young Rito, and Mineru, the Zonai sage, can visit at random, and players can invite either of them to move in.
The Zelda furniture, clothing, and villagers arrived in the free version 3.0 update on January 15, 2026, which launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game. That update brought 28 Zelda items, a resort hotel run by the Kapp’n family, decoratable Slumber Islands, and Splatoon and LEGO content. Owners of the original Switch release can move to the Switch 2 Edition with a $4.99 upgrade pack.
Version 3.0 reversed Nintendo’s 2021 position that update 2.0 would be the final major free addition to New Horizons. A later 3.0.2 patch added a Leaf Statue for the Animal Crossing series’ 25th anniversary. The game had sold 50.29 million units by June 30, 2026, placing it behind only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe among Switch titles. Nintendo has not announced further content for it.
Nintendo laid out its anniversary program during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8. The special edition Switch 2 retails at ¥62,980 in Japan and launched with a matching Pro Controller and carrying case. The Ocarina of Time remake follows on November 5 as a Switch 2 exclusive, priced at $59.99 for the digital version and $69.99 for the physical edition in the US.
The new designs work in both the Switch and Switch 2 versions of New Horizons, while Ocarina of Time will not release on the original Switch. Nintendo has announced Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo for the remake, due in 2027, which unlock masks in that game. The company has not said whether the figures will work in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
