ZTE has announced that it is going to launch an "SE" (possibly Special Edition) version of its Axon 11 in China. This new variant is billed as a "5G video phone" and is directed at a younger audience. However, the OEM has yet to reveal how it differs from the original.

No Android OEM seems complete these days without at least 1 mid-range dual-mode 5G smartphone. ZTE's contribution to this burgeoning sector is the Axon 11, which launched with the Snapdragon 765G SoC in March 2020. Now, the company is following another recent trend in hyping an SE variant for the same.

This new phone will join some other recent examples of mobile devices aimed at younger consumers, which may mean its specs will not match up to those of the pre-existing 11. On the other hand, its promotional material makes it pretty clear that it will emphasize camera prowess in its use-cases ("Action!").

Therefore, it may get some or all of the Axon 11's 64+8+2+2MP square rear camera array. However, there are no further hints as to what this upcoming SE could offer in terms of specs. All will be outlined at this phone's June 1, 2020 debut. This event, as with so many others this year, will be a live-streamed rather than an in-person show.
