Xiaomi to release the Redmi Pad Pro globally with POCO Pad re-brand
Xiaomi has only just released the Redmi Pad Pro, which serves as a more premium alternative to the Redmi Pad that we have already reviewed. For reference, the company has not discussed the possibility of offering the Redmi Pad Pro globally. For now, the tablet's release has been confined to China, where it starts at just CNY 1,499 (~$207).
However, it seems that Xiaomi intends to sell not only the Redmi Pad Pro globally but also a POCO derivative. Please note that the company has not announced anything yet. Instead, Kacper Skrzypek has discovered references to a global Redmi Pad Pro model number within HyperOS. Specifically, Skrzypek has provided evidence of two tablets that relate to the codename 'dizi':
- 2405CRPFDG - Redmi Pad Pro
- 2405CPCFBG - POCO Pad
For context, the Redmi Pad Pro arrived in China with the model number '2405CRPFDC'. Consequently, it appears all three are variants of the same device, which is underpinned by a 10,000 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset; please see our Redmi Pad Pro launch article for more hardware details. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Xiaomi will release either tablet globally. With that being said, the company has been spotted certifying the POCO Pad and POCO Stylus in Russia and the US, details of which we have covered separately.
