Xiaomi's successes over the past year are well-documented but it would seem the Chinese company is not one to rest on its laurels, as it continues its expansion in the quest for global dominance. The company has announced its intention to enter the Spanish market, with the launch event scheduled for November 7 in Madrid.
The company's Senior Vice President, Wang Xiang, made the announcement in a tweet a few days ago with the hashtag #LaEraXiaomi, which translates to "The Xiaomi Era"—a testament to the company's ambitions. Xiaomi launched shops in Russia earlier in the year, so this comes as no surprise.
This move comes with a few consequences for the end user, most notable being the fact that Xiaomi products will now cost less to purchase in Spain. Users could previously buy Xiaomi products in the country, but only through resellers, or when imported from China—both of which come with additional cost implications. The launch also means that Spanish buyers now have easier access to after-sales support.
It's unknown which products will be featured at launch but we expect to see a repertoire of smartphones and Xiaomi's mainstream consumer electronics.
