The MediaTek Dimensity 8400 is now official, and it's the first mid-range Android phone SoC to feature an all-big core CPU configuration, following the footsteps of the new flagship 9000 series SoCs. As confirmed by Xiaomi, the Redmi Turbo 4 will be among the first phones to feature it.
To be specific, the Redmi Turbo 4 will feature a customized version of the chipset, which will add an Ultra suffix to the Dimensity 8400. Of course, this customization can merely be slightly boosted clocks, something that companies have done in the past.
Regardless, the Dimensity 8400 aims to power affordable mid-range phones that can deliver flagship-grade performance. This is basically MediaTek's answer to the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite. Speaking of which, Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro.
This Pro variant will reportedly feature the Snapdragon 8s Elite and a larger battery. More specifically, Digital Chat Station, a reliable tipster, shared that the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro will sport a 7,000 mAh battery. The non-Pro, on the other hand, will reportedly pack a 6,500 mAh battery with 90-watt fast charging support (140-watt Anker 737 curr. $106.48 on Amazon).
Digital Chat Station has also shared that the non-Pro Turbo 4 will feature a 50 MP primary camera, a 1.5K LTPS screen, and an IP68 rating. There's no word on the possible prices of the two phones, but the predecessor launched in China at CNY 1,999, which is about $274.
