Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has announced that the OEM's inaugural electric vehicle (EV) has hit an important milestone in advance of its 2024 deadline. The SU7's ability to achieve its level of success is attributed to strong sales. Xiaomi also touts it as an ideal blend of technology and horsepower in a mid-level sedan.

Lei Jun has cited the ability to make 100,000 units of the SU7 to order by the end of 2024 as a benchmark of success since Xiaomi's inaugural EV launch event. Now, in mid-November 2024, the executive has announced that the car has indeed rolled past the magic number well in advance.

The SU7 - which also comes in Pro and Max variants - is, therefore, clearly in demand in its native China, where brand recognition probably plays a strong part.

Xiaomi also touts the car as a "luxury C-class technology sedan" that has been so well-designed in-house that it can go from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour (km/h, or 0 to ~124 miles per hour) in as little as 10.67 seconds.

It also can be configured with a 3K dashboard display with a 56-inch heads-up display, is rated to integrate with over 1,000 own-brand smart home devices and comes in a wide range of colors.

Of course, the SU7 also now has its top-end, performance-oriented Ultra variant to further drive its hype - and its revenues, at a starting price of 814,900 yuan (~$112,700). In the meantime, Xiaomi now estimates that it can deliver another 20,000 units of the series by the end of the year.
