The Xiaomi Mijia Glasses Camera is now available to pre-order via Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, Tmall and JD.com. Customers in China can pay a 100 yuan (~US$14) deposit to secure the wearable at the discounted price of 2,599 yuan (~US$376); the gadget is expected to retail for 2,699 yuan (~US$391) after the pre-sale period ends on September 6.
Alongside the pre-order announcement, Xiaomi revealed that the first OTA update to the device would take place on September 10. The new software will include a tool that enables you to use the glasses to identify various animals and plants. The marketing images suggest that the device can tell you the name of the species and a few facts on the subject. Also coming to the wearable is a Combat Power Detector, which appears to be a gimmick nodding to the similarity between the Mijia Glasses Camera and the Scouter device from the Dragon Ball universe.
As we previously reported, the glasses have a periscope dual camera system, offering 1X to 15X hybrid zoom. The gadget allows you to capture videos and images hands-free or to get closer to the action at an event like a sports match. Another upcoming feature of the device is AI text translation between English and Chinese. The wearable weighs around 100 g (~3.5 oz), and a 1,020 mAh battery provides 3.3 hours of use or 100 minutes of continuous recording on a single charge. Plus, you can recharge the gadget to 80% in 30 minutes. It remains unclear whether or when Xiaomi could launch the Mijia Glasses Camera in other markets.
