Pico 4: Pre-orders go live for Meta Quest 2 competitor
Pico has opened pre-orders for the Pico 4, its latest VR headset and attempt to take on the Quest 2's dominance. To recap, the Pico 4 measures 163 x 80 x x 255~310 mm, factoring its built-in strap, and weighs 586 g. Like the Quest 2, the Pico relies on the Qualcomm XR2, a 7 nm SoC with eight cores running a 2.84 GHz.
Additionally, the Pico 4 comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, plus a 5,300 mAh battery that supports 20 W fast charging. Separately, the headset features a 6DoF positioning system and pancake lenses that deliver a 105° FoV, 20.6 PPD and stepless 62-72 mm inter-pupillary distance (IPD) adjustment.
Moreover, the Pico delivers 2,160 x 2,160 pixels per eye at 72 Hz or 90 Hz. Incidentally, Pico has achieved full-colour pass-through by integrating a 16 MP RGB camera within the headset's visor. Currently, Pico is allowing people to pre-order through major retailers like Amazon or existing Neo 3 Link partners.
The Pico 4 starts at £379 in the UK and rises to £449 for the 256 GB model. Conversely, the headset retails for €429 and €499 for 128 GB and 256 GB versions, respectively. According to Pico, all pre-orders should begin shipping on October 18.
