Reviews for the Xiaomi 14T
If the Xiaomi 14 is too expensive, then how about the Xiaomi 14T? It is a lot more affordable, while still mastering an extensive range of features—plus, it runs almost as fast as a flagship smartphone. Further things that speak in favor of the 6.67-inch Xiaomi 14T are its 4,000-nit AMOLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate, its Leica-optimized triple-camera as well as an update guarantee until Android 18.

So, is the Xiaomi 14T worth NPR 65,000? For the most part, yes! The Dimensity 8300 Ultra’s excellent performance, no compromises on display, decent design (except for glass protection), and good battery life are the good markers for a worthy premium mid-ranger. However, the Leica branding would have shone if only the cameras were more optimized. And it’s 2025 already, so, it must have booted with Android 15 out of the box. If camera quality is your priority, this phone isn’t the best choice. But due to the lack of good camera phones in this range, you’d have to increase your budget and consider options like the Samsung S24 FE or Honor 200 Pro. But aside from that, the Xiaomi 14T is a solid option for NPR 65,000! No doubt about that!

The Xiaomi 14T delivered a mixed battery experience, with average autonomy, poor efficiency, but good charging. The device demonstrated good autonomy in the on-the-go use cases and in gaming. However, the performance was below expectations in the home/office use cases. It still delivered more than 2 days of autonomy when used moderately, which is slightly above average in the premium segment. The device reached a measured full charge in 46 minutes. The Xiaomi 14T’s battery gauge was quite accurate, with the screen’s UI showing 100% after 44 minutes. A quick 5-minute battery charge recovered an average of 6 hours of autonomy. The efficiency of the device was rather poor, with high discharge currents, especially during our home/office test case.

The Google Pixel 8a is the ideal choice for users who prioritise software experience, superior camera performance, and the convenience of wireless charging. It offers a clean, intuitive Android interface backed by Google’s industry-leading software support, and its AI-powered photography tools make it a standout in its price range. However, the Xiaomi 14T excels in areas like design, display, and charging speed, making it a better fit for users who value hardware-focused advantages. While both phones offer great value, the decision ultimately depends on whether you prioritise software and photography (Pixel 8a) or hardware and performance (Xiaomi 14T).

It's hard to even tell apart the Xiaomi 14T and the Xiaomi 14T Pro,let alone figure whether the extra features of the Pro model are worthwhile. Check out this HEAD-TO-HEAD for the COMPLETE BREAKDOWN of how these two phones compare in terms of screen quality, battery life and charging speed, chipset performance, and camera image quality, all based on our extensive reviews.

With the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro, Xiaomi decided to do the impossible by creating two flagship-like smartphones on a budget, and they have certainly succeeded at that. The two smartphones feature almost everything a flagship phone should. They have a fantastic design, which not only looks good but also feels solid in the hand. The displays are top-notch with many latest technologies. The performance is also quite satisfactory and they are capable of running games at high graphical fidelity. The cameras are also fantastic and the same goes for the battery and charging speed. However, out of the two phones, the Pro model provides a better experience in every aspect of the smartphone. The difference is not that large but it is still there.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro impressed us with its robust package and pleasant design. If you trim things down too much, the effect becomes a defect. Let's see what a $200 difference looks like in specs. First, the chipset is different and slower than the absolutely amazing Dimensity 9300+. The Xiaomi 14T is positioned somewhere around the Pixel 8a performance-wise. Second, the camera system is different, but the main camera is still pretty good. What we don't understand is the need for a dedicated 2x telephoto. There's no wireless charging, and the wired charging speeds are slower, albeit pretty decent still. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14T has a very attractive design and a gorgeous screen at its side, plus the Gemini partnership, which is not to be taken lightly.

The Xiaomi 14T offers great value for money, and you don’t lose out on too much by opting for this model over the more expensive Pro variant. You get a striking design, a lovely display, great cameras, solid performance and all the same software features. On a daily basis, chances are that you’ll barely notice the difference. That said, the Pro model has some very distinct advantages, and for a lot of people, it’ll be worth the extra outlay. It has a metal frame, more impressive gaming performance, better main and telephoto sensors and wireless charging. Personally, I’d happily pay an extra £100/€150 for those features, but it’s nice to have this option for those who don’t value them as much. There’s lots of competition at this price point, but the Xiaomi 14T stands out as one of the most compelling options.

The Xiaomi 14T is definitively a mid-range handset, but one that's hot on the heels of its Pro counterpart. Xiaomi offers a wonderful display, premium design, and reliable performance with the 14T, meaning the phone is especially suited to gaming. Trade-offs are felt in the durability and camera departments – despite being marketed as a camera phone, the photography experience is a mixed bag.

Unboxing the Xiaomi 14T smartphone, with a tour of the camera setup, gaming test, battery life thoughts and more. I've already reviewed the Xiaomi 14T Pro and here's how the more basic regular phone compares. You do have a few downgrades here vs the Pro, starting with the camera tech. The cheaper Sony sensor is still good for shooting photos in most conditions, while most of the Xiaomi 14T camera features remain the same. Stuff like 8K video recording won't be missed by many. Likewise, the battery charging is a bit slower and there's no wireless charging support. However, I actually preferred the gaming experience here on the Xiaomi 14T vs the Pro, as this phone doesn't heat up as badly. And this regular model is a bit lighter too, although that's thanks to the more basic plastic finish.

Despite facing heavy competition, the Xiaomi 14T is an easy recommendation in our books. The handset covers all bases with a good display, adequate chipset, fast enough charging and nice-sounding speakers. What we would like to see improved is battery life. Also, excluding the charger from the box doesn't sit well with us, given the fact that the phone supports proprietary fast charging. Despite its lackluster selfie camera, the Xiaomi 14T stands out from the crowd with excellent camera performance - day and night, stills and videos. We are even surprised by how good the 4x zoom mode is. When you factor in 4 years of major OS updates, the Xiaomi 14T becomes an excellent all-rounder and a great recommendation from launch. As the price settles with time, the handset will become even more lucrative.

In the DXOMARK Camera tests, the Xiaomi 14T offered an overall strong performance in both photo and video, delivering a satisfying user experience. This said, our testers also noticed some drawbacks. In photo mode, we were particularly impressed by the natural color rendering, the wide depth of field, the stable white balance in bright light and the good rendering of fine detail. On the downside, exposure could be unstable, the camera struggled with color casts in low light, the bokeh effect in portrait mode had an unnatural appearance, and the preview image on the display did often not quite look like the final capture, especially in terms of dynamic range. In video mode, the Xiaomi 14T recorded high levels of detail, the white balance was nice and the effective stabilization system made for smooth footage. However, our testers also observed some scene integrity artifacts across all test conditions, video noise was quite strong in low light and skin tones were often rendered inaccurately.

Overall, the Xiaomi 14T left me impressed with its premium design and vibrant display. It feels great in hand, and the flat screen adds a sense of safety while using it. The camera performance is solid, especially in well-lit conditions, although low-light situations could be better. I also appreciated the fast charging and excellent battery life! So, would I recommend the Xiaomi 14T? It is suitable for everyday use and entertainment, but it depends on how you use your smartphone. The fast charging and long battery life are major advantages for users who are always on the go. While the camera could improve in low-light conditions, its features and competitive pricing make it a worthwhile choice for anyone looking for a well-rounded smartphone. This device is definitely worth considering.

The Xiaomi 14T looks to offer a whole host of premium smartphone tech without the associated price tag. While it’s not quite as capable as the more expensive Xiaomi 14T Pro, I’d argue that the benefits are pretty minimal, with key features – like display tech, cameras and battery life – consistent among the two.

The Xiaomi 14T, positioned in the premium price segment, offered a solid performance in color rendering and touch interaction, though it fell short in some key areas like readability and video playback. The color rendering, one of the device’s stronger points, delivered accurate colors across a variety of lighting environments. Touch interactions were smooth and responsive, with minimal latency, making for a highly enjoyable user experience. The screen is also flicker-free, enhancing comfort during long periods of use. On the downside, our tests showed that the Xiaomi 14T struggled with HDR10 video playback, particularly in brightness and detail, leading to a less immersive experience.

Xiaomi is bringing two new mid-range phones to a global launch in the 14T and 14T Pro, along with its first folding phone in the Mix Flip at an event in Berlin. The company previously brought Leica’s lenses and features into the 13T series, making this a more incremental upgrade in comparison. A tighter relationship with Google, along with a focus on AI tools, is driving much of Xiaomi’s focus this time around. Both the 14T and 14T Pro will be available in various global markets — still not North America — forcing you to get an unlocked model from online retailers who ship to this side of the pond.
