The Xiaomi 12S series is at hand. The company has confirmed a July 4 launch date for the trio of phones, with the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro to accompany them. Sadly, though, it appears the premium phones may never make the trip out of China.
According to leaker SnoopyTech, the Xiaomi 12S series will never make it to the global stage, and will remain exclusive to Xiaomi's home market. That isn't particularly surprising either, as another source, Xiaomiui, made a similar claim weeks ago. Supposedly, Xiaomi's upcoming crop of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones—the Xiaomi 12S series, Mix Fold 2, and others—will remain China exclusives. The only exception will be the Xiaomi 12T Pro.
Camera details of the Xiaomi 12S series have also been revealed. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra will be the star of the show with a massive 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor that outrightly dominates every other sensor on the smartphone market right now. According to Digital Chat Station, the 12S Ultra will offer 5x optical zoom. As for the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro, both will feature the same 1/1.28-inch IMX707 on the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
