Xiaomi 12 series potentially set to debut 5-axis stabilization
The Xiaomi 12 series promises to build on the successes of the positively-received Mi 11 series. While most leaks indicate incremental improvements, it appears Xiaomi may be set to equip the series with some hardware that should appeal to camera enthusiasts.
Going by word from popular leaker Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is testing out new video stabilization hardware for its phones. The leaker confirms that this feature is quite similar to what Chinese rival OPPO currently has in the works. Expectations should lean towards stabilization performance better than Vivo's gimbal camera technology as seen on the Vivo X60 Pro newer flagships. Details of the Xiaomi's implementation of the technology remain obscure but Digital Chat Station confirms it will use both lens and sensor movements to achieve a 5-axis effect.
It's unknown what phones from Xiaomi will offer the feature but the Xiaomi 12 Ultra would be a good bet. While Xiaomi has come a long way with regards to stabilization on its flagship phones, this technology should see it compete more effectively with the heavy hitters from Samsung and Apple.
