Windrose has had a strong Early Access launch, but players will still have to wait a while for its first major content update. Developer Kraken Express has announced that the next biome, the Ashlands, will arrive in six months at the earliest. Until then, the focus will be on bug fixes, performance improvements and a new feedback platform.

Windrose remains on course for success. According to Insider Gaming, hundreds of thousands of users play the survival adventure every day, and more than one million copies have already been sold. In addition to the three biomes already included in the game, the first content update is set to introduce the Ashlands. Fans will have to wait a little longer, however: Kraken Express describes the scope as ambitious and currently expects at least six months of development time. More information on the roadmap is expected to follow in one to two months.

In the short term, the focus will primarily be on technical improvements. The next smaller update is currently being tested internally and is intended to improve performance and stability. More than 40 new building parts and over 50 quality-of-life improvements and fixes are also planned. At the same time, Kraken Express has launched the windrose.support platform. There, players can find help, report bugs, submit feature requests and support suggestions from other users.

Reddit takes the wait in stride

Reddit is taking the wait calmly. Many users consider six months for a major Early Access update understandable and point to similar survival games, where major content updates also take a long time. The prevailing view: better one large, polished update than several half-finished bits of content. Some players, however, are concerned about the community’s long-term engagement and would like to see more depth in talents, progression, island variety and replay value. Overall, though, the mood seems patient, optimistic and developer-friendly.
