Windows 11 KB5095093 Preview adds Point-in-time restore

Microsoft has deployed optional cumulative update preview KB5095093 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. The deployment updates version 24H2 platforms to OS Build 26100.8737 and version 25H2 installations to OS Build 26200.8737.
According to official Microsoft support logs, this non-security release is immediately available through standard Windows Update channels and manual download via the Microsoft Update Catalog, introducing localized bug fixes alongside a brand new recovery framework.
Point-in-time restore introduces automated system rollback options
BleepingComputer outlined the inclusion of Point-in-time restore, a newly designed, flexible recovery mechanism located inside the system recovery settings. Microsoft documentation states that the feature creates automatic system snapshots, allowing consumers to roll back the entire operating system, including custom settings, installed applications, and user files, to a verified baseline state.
This utility simplifies localized troubleshooting and mitigates filesystem corruption without forcing users to perform a time-consuming clean installation. The release also modifies how quality updates are paused. Users can now choose an exact calendar date to stall updates for up to 35 days, with the ability to repeatedly extend the pause duration without triggering a mandatory update installation check upon expiration.
Optional update patches the Recycle Bin bug
The Windows 11 update targets a file system display bug introduced during the June 9, 2026, security patch deployment KB5094126. The previous update broke the Recycle Bin confirmation prompt, forcing it to display internal system codes instead of standard file names during permanent deletions. KB5095093 fixes this display bug, restoring regular file names to the prompt. Microsoft also modified the taskbar Widgets behavior: the dashboard no longer opens on automatic mouse hover, and generic news feeds have been removed to focus entirely on localized information.
Accessibility options receive upgrades through a native Screen Tint tool under system settings, which overlays customizable color layers over the entire display to reduce eye strain. Additionally, the Magnifier tool now allows users to type precise zoom percentages directly into its control bar. For hardware connectivity, the underlying audio subsystem now keeps the microphone mute state synchronized between the Windows audio mixer and the Hands-Free Profile (HFP). According to Microsoft, this change stabilizes audio behavior for Bluetooth headphones equipped with physical mute buttons, preventing state desynchronization during wireless calls.
Microsoft has also revealed that Windows 11 version 26H2 has entered the Experimental channel as Microsoft focuses on low-disruption enablement packages for IT deployment.
