Volkswagen has announced that there is a new, fully-online way to lease its vehicles. This new kind of sales channel has been rolled out to the firm's native market of Germany to start off with, and will work for its ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles to start off with. Therefore, consumers in this country will be able to order a new VW right from their PC, phone or tablet soon.

ACCELERATE is an initiative at Volkswagen intended to make this classic car-marque as modern and high-tech as possible. This involves measures such as making its iconic bus electric, as well as making its business as online as possible, thus far. Now, the company has also announced that it has started to migrate its leasing service onto its website as well.

This new option is now open to those looking to make a deal for their new ID.4 or ID.5 thus far, and allows them to fully configure the vehicle prior to completing a lease agreement - all using nothing more than their PC or mobile device.

Despite this, VW asserts that the new service will not supplant traditional brick-and-mortar dealerships, and that its current partners on this end will remain "closely integrated" into its new model going forward.

The new all-online version of leasing is only available to German customers via volkswagen.de at present; however, it may well expand to more countries (and to new models such as the ID.Buzz and Aero, perhaps) should it prove a success in its initial market.
