Volkswagen has finally previewed its new bus - the first of its kind to be electric. It has been revealed to have a design somewhat like the original's hallmark shape - however, it will be outfitted with considerably more up-to-date tech. They include an AR heads-up display, LED headlights and a new kind of wheel.

The long-awaited comeback of Volkswagen's bus is officially on - and it will, for the first time, be electric. This new vehicle has been confirmed as a new member of the ID series as its Buzz. The German auto-maker has released a new YouTube trailer for its upcoming "world premiere", revealing its design in full.

According to the video, it will not exactly have the same flat-nosed shape as the original. Nevertheless, Volkswagen has asserted that the ID. Buzz will uphold its reputation for agility and manuerabiilty while still having the space for family trips and getaways.

The company has also indicated that the ID. Buzz might be available in a commercial format as well as the traditional camper-van style. However, it is already clear that there is a contrast from its classic routes in the amount of tech packed into it.

This includes a heads-up display rated to confer augmented reality (AR) -generated navigational assistance on the vehicle; "smart" LED headlights; a distinctly super-modern steering wheel with integrated touch controls and even the possibility of autonomous driving in the future.
