ViewSonic XC27G66: 27-inch QHD IPS gaming monitor with up to 340 Hz refresh rate goes official

ViewSonic has launched a new gaming monitor aimed at competitive gamers who prioritize speed over anything else. Dubbed the XC27G66-2K, the 27-inch monitor utilizes a Fast IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 340 Hz.

The monitor will feature a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which should be more than enough for competitive gamers. According to the brand, the monitor will boast a peak brightness of 500 nits, as well as a contrast ratio of 1300:1. There is no support for mini LED backlighting, which explains the comparatively mediocre contrast performance. Of course, OLED panels will be light years ahead in this regard.

That said, the primary selling point for the XC27G66 is undoubtedly its refresh rate, which can be overclocked to an impressive 340 Hz from its native 320 Hz. ViewSonic has also claimed 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut, as well as 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut, which might make the monitor acceptable for color-sensitive work as well, depending on how accurate it turns out to be.

Other notable features include RGB lighting, FreeSync and G-Sync support, as well as other gaming-oriented features such as crosshair color adjustment. It appears that only tilt adjustments are possible, between -5° to 15°. For more ergonomic flexibility, buyers will have to go the VESA mounting route. As for inputs, dual HDMI 2.1 and a single DisplayPort 1.4 are present.
