Despite the high level of skepticism for this video, users on Reddit have been whipped into a frenzy with this first glimpse at Nintendo's upcoming Joy-Cons for the Switch 2. In a video originally posted to Bilibili, cut down, and reposted to Reddit by user Adrien190303, users are treated to a highlight of the changes being made to the Joy-Cons.
The first notable change that the video examines is the bottom of each Joy-Con. A translation of the subtitles states that there will be a "black window" on the bottom of each Joy-Con, which could mean that both left and right controllers may house an IR motion camera. The subtitles further emphasize this point by stating it will be "just like the Joy-Con on the right side of our hand."
Moving on to the back of the Joy-Con, the first standout feature is the redesigned back triggers. Both triggers feature a longer and more ergonomic design. The video mentions that "it is suspected that the original shoulder button has been canceled," which potentially alludes to the absence of the clicky-style L and R shoulder buttons found on the current switch.
Finally, the video gives users a closer look at the SL and SR buttons on the inside of the Joy-Con. In addition to being much larger, the video suspects that the buttons may not be just standard buttons but could potentially be small linear triggers. Unfortunately, the video cuts at this point, and viewers are left with more questions than answers. However, with the rumored announcement of the Switch 2 coming in January 2025, Nintendo fans don't have to wait long to substantiate these claims.
