Is it crucial to you that a budget tablet has LTE access and GPS capability for use on the go? Are you looking for a compact Android device? Then read our in-depth review to get a detailed look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9.
The Galaxy Tab A9 represents a solid overall package in the sub-€200 (approx. US$214) price range (RRP: €179, or US$159, from retailers like Amazon). That said, the Galaxy tablet's compact design helps it stand out from its generally much larger rivals (usually around 10 inches in size), especially since the bezel around the 8.7-inch TFT panel is quite small. The screen-to-body ratio is around 81.7% – attractive for a device of this price and significantly more efficient than what the Blackview Tab 12 Pro (78.7%) and Teclast M50 HD (78.8%) have to offer.
Samsung certainly hasn’t reinvented the entry-level tablet with the Galaxy Tab A9, but the device’s solid specifications are enough to offer great value for money in the segment below the typical 10.1-inch class of tablet. Another major advantage of this budget tablet is found outside the hardware – more specifically, the relatively long product care provided by Samsung. In this price bracket, no other manufacturers offer two generations of custom UI and Android OS upgrades as well as four years of security updates, to be rolled out on a quarterly basis.
Read our full review to find out where the weaknesses of the Samsung Galaxy A9 lie and what compromises had to be made specifically on the budget tablet.
