Vanpowers has discounted the City Vanture recently by a very generous $700, so those interested can acquire it for $999 instead of $1,699 (or $1,049, down from $1,749 when choosing the pre-assembled bike instead of the full kit). However, we secured an additional $50 discount for our readers that can be used in both cases.

Expected to get a successor later this year, the Vanpowers City Vanture e-bike had its price pushed from $1,699 to $999. Thanks to the special discount code that we secured for our readers, an additional $50 price cut should be taken into account as well. The discount code is "NBC50" and can be used for both the pre-assembled bike (priced at $1,049 after dropping from $1,749) or the DIY kit, which currently goes for $999, as mentioned above.

Available in five color choices (Shining Black, Infinite Silver, Neon Purple, Chalk Blue, and Ruby), the City Vanture weighs just 34.17 pounds (15.5 kg), which makes it one of the lightest e-bikes on the market. The internal battery provides a range of about 50 miles (80 km). However, adding a bottle-shaped battery to the LG-made 36V 7Ah/252Wh Lithium-Ion downtube unit can extend the bike's autonomy to around 80 miles (130 km). Both EU/UK and US versions get 5 levels of assistance, but the first is limited to 15 mph (25 kmh), while the latter can hit 25 mph (40 kmh). The motor for US customers outputs 350 W, while European and UK regulations keep its sibling at 250 W.

In addition to the above, other highlights worth mentioning are a maximum supported weight of around 265 pounds (120 kg), Tektro hydraulic brakes, as well as a low-maintenance single-speed transmission that uses a Gates CDN belt drive and a Gates CDX chain wheel. Sadly, a single size is available for now, but it is supposed to accommodate riders between 5' 8" and 6' 3" (170 to 190 cm).

Those interested in more details should check out the video below while keeping in mind the "NBC50" exclusive discount code that can bring the DIY kit down to $949.
