The Steam Frame could be revealed as early as Wednesday. There are some signs that point towards an update on Valve’s next VR headset.

For some time now, reports of Valve’s next VR headset have been surfacing and the name Deckard has been doing the rounds. Valve Deckard is expected to be the internal codename for the headset which more recently has got its final name, or so it seems. Since Valve has not shared any information about the headset, this is all speculation at this point, but it looks like we may not have to wait long for an official reveal.

As compiled by Redditor ‘___Steve,’ Valve could be preparing for some kind of update on the Deckard or Steam Frame, whatever it ends up being called. The post cites a popular VR YouTuber named habie147 who ended their latest video by saying, “I will see you next, on Wednesday. Special report incoming. First time ever Wednesday posting. Big deal. Set an alarm. Alert the Post Office.”

To add more fuel to the fire, another VR YouTuber named Nathie had posted on Threads on September 7 that they are looking forward to their Seattle trip next week, possibly hinting at a visit across the lake to Bellevue where Valve’s headquarters are. Furthermore, Norman Chan from Tested posted on BlueSky on September 10 a cryptic message that could have something to do with the next Half-Life game. They said, “plateau? more like mesa.”

All these signs point towards a Wednesday, September 17, update for the Steam Frame, Valve’s next VR headset.

Now these could be unrelated incidents that have nothing to do with an update on the Steam Frame. However, the timing of these incidents seems somewhat suggestive. Valve was pretty tight lipped about the Index VR headset in 2019 till it shadow dropped it during Facebook’s (now Meta) livestream.

Moreover, recent SteamVR updates have added numerous references to 'Frame' UIs and menus. And, Valve has been applying for a new trademark using the Steam Frame name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Whether there will be an announcement this week or not, it looks like the company is inching closer to an official unveiling.
