Beat Survival launched on Steam on March 17, while Celestial Bond arrived one day earlier.
Beat Survival and Celestial Bond have launched on Steam as free-to-play RPGs. One is about open-world zombie survival with co-op and fleshed-out systems, while the other has more MMO mechanics and sports a "Mostly Positive" rating aggregate so far.

Free-to-play RPG launches on Steam usually follow a very basic pattern. A new title shows up with promises - open worlds, deep progression, multiplayer - but the real story usually comes from how players respond in the first few days, since role-playing titles tend to shoot off of early traction. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with Beat Survival and Celestial Bond, two newly released free-to-play RPGs that have just entered the platform and are now charting on Steam's "Trending Upcoming" free-to-play list with merely a handful of reviews in tow.

Beat Survival is the more mechanically challenging of the two. It is a pixel-style open-world survival action RPG set during a zombie outbreak. The game is designed around staying alive in a dynamic world where enemies, weather, and time of day directly affect gameplay.

The game’s systems aren't all about basic survival - it's closer to Project Zomboid than anything else. Players have to manage hunger, thirst, temperature, infections, and overall health, while scavenging for supplies across towns, forests, rivers, and large buildings. The environment itself plays a role, with seasonal changes and conditions like rain or freezing nights. You can use firearms, melee weapons like axes and machetes, or improvised tools such as thrown objects and explosives. Enemies don’t just disappear after being defeated either - there’s a chance they return as zombies. Completing missions and surviving longer unlocks abilities like crafting, cooking, fishing, engineering, and even vehicle handling.

Beat Survival also supports 2-player local co-op, with options like split-screen or shared-screen play. Despite being free-to-play, the current version includes a limited early access-style experience, and additional content is planned through future expansions and updates.

Celestial Bond, on the other hand, takes a more conventional route. It arrives as a large-scale fantasy MMORPG with open-world exploration, character classes, and progression systems built around gear, abilities, and social play. The game includes features like dungeon exploration, mounts, companions, and transformation-based combat systems. Its structure is very similar to existing free-to-play MMO frameworks - long-term progression and multiplayer interaction.

Early player feedback has been a little short of great - the game is sitting at 76% rating from nearly 35 reviews. Initial impressions show multiple concerns around originality and overall polish, and some players are even comparing it to mobile-style RPG ports. The review base is still developing, but early words are already somewhat cautionary.

Both RPGs haven't been rated for the Steam Deck as of writing - we'll update this story in the near-future if that changes.
