Free Steam demo for Alpha Nomos lands with rhythm-driven roguelite combat

A free demo for Alpha Nomos, a roguelite game, is now available on Steam. It's developed by an independent studio, RibCage Games, and it's planned for a Q3 2026 release.
The game is based on a simple idea: everything happens on the beat. All the key elements, including the combat, movement, and environmental reactions, sync with the soundtrack.
Players step into the shoes of Cello, a fighter who has to navigate through a puppet-like post-apocalyptic world. It's filled with corrupted enemies, and the weapons to fight them are music-based. This combat element means players need to be in sync with the rhythm, or things can go downhill if it's missed.
This combination of roguelite replayability and beat-driven gameplay draws clear inspiration from hits like Hi-Fi Rush, BPM: Bullets Per Minute, and Crypt of the NecroDancer (available on the Humble store). Visually, the game leans into a slightly unsettling style, with nondescript circuses, corrupted toys, and dynamic environments.
Its free demo goes beyond being a simple teaser, and it's said to offer a more complete slice of the game. As noted by the developer, it offers a proper preview of the progression system, and players get to face multiple enemy types. It also has a branching power-up system, and the upgrades influence both the soundtrack and the combat abilities.
Alongside the free Steam demo, the developer has uploaded a fresh gameplay trailer. This video, which has been attached below, offers a better look at how music remains the core of the game rather than just a background element.
