Twitter may soon offer premium Twitter Blue service for US$3 per month
Twitter may soon offer a premium paid tier for its users that brings a few extra features to the social media site.
Dubbed “Twitter Blue,” the new tier was recently discovered as an in-app purchase option on the Twitter iOS app, although the feature isn’t live for all users. Twitter Blue will cost $2.99/month and will include features like an “Undo Tweet” option (which delays the publication of a tweet so that users can undo it before it goes live) and a “Reader Mode” (which turns long threads into a more readable format).
Twitter Blue also includes new color themes and custom app icons as well as features for saving tweets for future use.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Twitter Blue will include the oft-requested “Edit Tweet” option that would let users edit an existing tweet.
It should also be noted that there are multiple web services and third-party apps that offer these features for free. Web services like LaterBro can let individuals schedule or delay tweets and delete them prior to publication. There is also a myriad of “unthreading” services that take long Twitter threads and turn them into easily readable paragraphs.
Twitter hasn’t officially announced Twitter Blue, so it’s not certain when the service will be available (if ever).
