However, the design on this laptop looks dated, and you'll have to settle for a third-generation Intel CPU. The $699 Acer Aspire M5 is a better deal because it offers an aluminum lid and deck, Intel's new Haswell architecture, and nearly double the battery life.

That pretty much sums up the L50T-A-130, as it's adequate in most respects but – apart from the beefy speakers – really doesn't stand out in any particular way. Cut the price by £100 and it'd be a good budget offering, but at £649.00 it may struggle to compete with its many mid-range rivals.

Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ
Toshiba is one of Japan’s largest notebook manufacturer and hence, a lot of pressure is on them to compete internationally. The Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ is a lower specification notebook of the series. Powered only by an Intel Core i3 4005U, the notebook is only capable of clocking up to 1.7 GHz with no option for Turbo. Despite that, this processor is already good enough for casual usage such as word editing, web browsing and playing mid-tier games.
The 15.6 inch display is also wide enough for comfortable viewing and has a resolution of 1366 by 768 giving clear and crisp picture quality. One nice thing about the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ is that it comes with quite a bit of hard disk space. With 750 GB SATA drive, users won’t have to worry about getting an external hard disk early on. However, it does not come with any SSD.
As for connectivity, the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ has an Ethernet port for wired connectivity and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity. It comes with 3 USB ports, two 2.0 and one 3.0 port, a HDMI port and a built in card reader alongside the basic ports like headphone jack.
To top it off, the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DJ has a nice glossy full color finish which looks good. The specifications for this model may be lacking compared with others in its series, but this notebook targets light users who don’t want to be spending so much on specifications they won't fully utilize.

Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DV
Today, young adults never leave home without a gadget or two (and sometimes more). These have become trendy icons of style and fashion. The sleek design of the Toshiba Satellite L50 caters to those who seek to express their love of aesthetics through their laptop. The slim 23.5 mm body and low weight starting from 1.9 kg are ideal for those who are constantly on the go.
However, the lack of sturdiness would mean that it cannot take any heavy trauma or hits. Music and movie lovers would stand to gain from the state of the art stereo speakers, specially tuned by Skullcandy. The Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DV would be the best option for outdoor entertainment or work, especially due to its long battery life of up to 6 hours independent usage.
The laptop also features a 15.6" screen with a glossy display that gives better color intensity and contrast. While the laptops lacks a DVD drive, which was removed to save space and weight, it features 3 USB ports, one of which connects with HDMI cables. Additionally, one of its USB ports supports 'Sleep & Charge' technology, which charges any external device even when the laptop is shut down. In essence, the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DV is a medium priced laptop for the young, fashionable and modern executive or entrepreneur who does not want to be cooped up in a stuffy office or cluttered home.

It's not particularly fast but it can handle basic computing work perfectly well, and the slimmer, lighter design of this new model means that the Toshiba L50 is a bit more portable than most of its low-cost rivals. Its larger battery doesn't help its runtime and in benchmark tests it's slower than last year's model despite taking essentially the same components.

Multimedia machine. The spec sheet of the L50 is quite impressive. Toshiba's Satellite seems to absolutely satisfy private users with a strong CPU, a 1 TB hard drive, a graphics card from AMD, and a DVD burner. All that is available for a reasonable street price of 1000 Euros (~$1263). Where is the catch?

The Satellite offers everything that an all-round multimedia notebook should: Alongside a Core i7 processor, the device is equipped with a graphics core powerful enough to render games and a fast solid state drive. An IPS display with stable viewing angles also joins the ranks. But at almost 900 Euros (~$1100), this is no budget device.

Long-lasting and cool. Toshiba's 15.6-inch laptop is powered by an AMD APU. The Satellite achieves good battery runtimes owing to its relatively low power requirement, operates quietly, and it barely heats up.
Toshiba Satellite L50-C-111
The Toshiba Satellite L50-C-111 is a 15.6 inch notebook with the lid made entirely of plastic imitating brushed aluminum, but with glossy finish. On the other side of the lid, you will find the 15.6-inch HD screen, a built-in microphone and a webcam on top. The bezels around the screen are quite thin, something which is not commonly seen in Toshiba laptops. The back of the lid bends a lot when pressure is applied, but interestingly enough, pushing it doesn’t cause ripples to appear on the screen. The HD TFT High brightness display with LED backlight offers a good contrast ratio, excellent viewing angles, and wide color gamut coverage. This model is powered by an Intel Core i5-5200U, an ULV (ultra low voltage) dual-core processor based on the Broadwell architecture, which was launched in January 2015. This CPU has sufficient power for office and multimedia purposes as well as more demanding applications and multitasking. Storage capacity for this model comes in the form of a 1 TB hard disk. This notebook has a pair of built in stereo speakers with Onkyo Sound and DTS technology, which is optimized and certified exclusively for Skullcandy. The GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce 930M which is a lower-mid-range GPU that is included in budget notebooks or multimedia-oriented ones. It was released in March 2015 and it is based on the GeForce 840M from 2014 with GM108 chip. The Toshiba Satellite L50-C-15C is a perfect mid-range laptop for users looking for capability with a moderate cost. To some, its design might feel old-school with the glossy satin gold finish and a hairline pattern all over. The chassis is mostly solid, but feels a little plastic. It is definitely is weight friendly at 2.2 kg. There is a simple looking glossy lid and a full-sized chiclet-style keyboard with black keys contrasting to its lighter colored surrounding. The Toshiba Satellite L50-C-15C does not come with a pre-installed OS, which can potentially save on cost if the user decides to use a free OS platform. The 15.6 inch Toshiba TruBrite Full HD TFT panel delivers good brightness and contrast. There is an Intel Core i7-5500U processor on-board, which can be coupled with up to 16 GB of RAM. Graphics is driven by an Nvidia GeForce 930M with 2 GB dedicated VRAM. Storage on the laptop is a 1 TB HDD and there is a DVD Super Multi drive. Other features consist of a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI-out and an HD webcam. Archive.org versionLet’s talk more about the hardware, though. The Core i7-5500U CPU paired with GeForce 930M are a great combination for everyday usage, multimedia experience and light gaming. Basically, as we said earlier, it’s a well-balanced mid-ranger. Nevertheless, we would like to address our concerns about the heat management as the CPU reached dangerously high temperatures, but we like to believe that this occurred due to the use of an engineering sample for the writing of this review. And last, but not least, the battery life. It could have been improved if the battery capacity was bigger because the hardware inside isn’t so demanding.

Toshiba Satellite L50D-C-13G
The Toshiba Satellite L50D-C13G is very much a mid-range laptop. The first thing that stands out about this laptop is the glossy and reflective chassis and screen. It is not furnished with any dazzling designs and the entire casing is made from plastic. The keyboard layout provides good ergonomics, as it is a traditional, flat-topped unit with a sensible layout and number pad. The glossy 15.6 inch TFT display features a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. The display brightness is poor, making it unsuitable for outdoor use in bright daylight. The L50D-C-13G is powered by AMD's A10-8700P APU combined with a quad-core processor running at 1.8 Hz. There are a respectable 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard disk. The Windows 8.1 system exudes practicality. The maintenance hatch on the underside is only fixed by one screw and covers the two RAM slots, a single hard drive bay, and the CMOS battery, all of which are easy to access for further upgrades. The battery is able to last slightly over 3 hours during continuous video streaming in high performance mode, and about 5 hours in power save mode with dimmed screen. This model comes with Bluetooth 4.0, an SD card reader, a DVD writer, two USB 3.0 ports, and one USB 2.0 port.Specifications

Well-equipped. Toshiba’s multimedia all-rounder Satellite L50-C-275 is priced at just under 750 Euros (~$826). Considering its good features and properties (including a Full HD IPS display, a fast SSD, good battery runtimes and GeForce graphics), the price is fair.

Archive.org versionThe Toshiba Satellite L55-C5340 is a notebook with powerful speakers and a lightweight build (at least for a 15-inch laptop), but it doesn't offer much more. If you're just browsing or writing, the performance will be good enough for you, but the small keys, poor battery life, washed-out screen and boatload of bloatware are more than enough reasons to look elsewhere.

Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese conglomerate or technology group. The company was established in 1939 and in 1978 Toshiba became the official company name. The company's products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard drives, printers, batteries, lighting, logistics and information technology. Toshiba was one of the largest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances and medical equipment.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.
AMD Radeon HD 8400:
An integrated GCN-based GPU with 128 shader units and no dedicated VRAM. It is typically clocked at 600 MHz and paired with AMD Richland A6 "Kabini" processors.
AMD Radeon HD 8510G: In AMD Richland processors (ULV A8-series) integrated graphics card without dedicated graphics memory.
Intel HD Graphics 4400:
ULV integrated GPU (GT2) with 20 EUs found on certain Haswell CPU models.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3630QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
