This render may disappoint fans of the original Find X

The OPPO Find X is considered a particularly innovative ex-flagship phone, as it featured a motorized pop-up module that left both sides of the device completely clear of sensors unless it was deployed. However, a new leak suggests that its upcoming successor will not continue this trend, and will go with conventional, albeit possibly up-to-date, features instead.

The Find X stood out among 2018 premium phones, due to its extra moving parts that kept the cameras hidden when not in use. Its maker OPPO may not have found this design very successful, as it did not see a second generation in 2019. Then again, the same phone now has a confirmed launch set for later in 2020.

However, it seems the OEM has decided against further unique aspects in this device, which is to be called the X2 on its release. A new render posted to SlashLeaks alleges that this phone has reverted to visible front- and rear-facing camera modules. On the other hand, the front-facing module here is of the punch-hole variety, which may at least keep its screen-to-body ratio high.

The rear panel of the "Find X2" is also shown in this image. It exhibits triple cameras, 1 lens of which is square. This usually suggests the presence of a state-of-the-art periscope lens, which may also bring enhanced zoom capabilities to upcoming devices such as the Huawei P40 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Therefore, should this leak prove accurate, it would indicate that the Find X2 will have a rather run-of-the-mill appearance compared to its predecessor, but that the trade-up in terms of specs may be worth it.
