The newly released Rogue Blight combines Soulslike combat with a card-based structure inspired by Slay the Spire – and has launched to 96% positive Steam reviews.

Rogue Blight is a new 2D action roguelite from CodeRadGames that launched on Steam on September 3, 2026. It is set in a dark fantasy world plagued by a mysterious blight and now overrun with monsters. Players fight their way through the infected lands, taking on numerous monsters as well as the occasional powerful boss.

What makes Rogue Blight stand out is its combination of challenging combat à la Dark Souls with a card-based structure inspired by Slay the Spire. This means there is no open world, but rather randomly generated paths featuring battles, events, merchants, treasure chests and other stops along the way. The concept appears to be going down very well with early players. Just one day after release, 75 reviews had already been posted – and 96% of them are positive. According to the first reviews, Rogue Blight offers a highly addictive gameplay loop and plenty of variety thanks to more than 50 different weapons, numerous blessings and freely customizable builds.

All weapons are wielded one-handed and can largely be combined freely. For example, players can head into battle with a sword and dagger, two magic wands or a weapon paired with a shield. According to Steam reviews, however, the combat system can sometimes feel too simple despite its Soulslike mechanics. Many fights ultimately boil down to attacking, dodging and repeating. Some players would also like to see unique movesets for individual weapons, as some of them reportedly feel very similar. Anyone who wants to check out the game can pick up Rogue Blight with a 10% launch discount until September 17, bringing the price down to $11.69 from $12.99. Steam Deck compatibility is still listed as Unknown.
