At this point, it is quite clear that it has become super hard to build a gaming PC that is both powerful and reasonably priced. That said, despite obvious RAM, storage, and GPU price hikes, you can still get your hands on some well-priced components if you keep your eyes open.

Case in point, Amazon has the PowerColor Radeon RX 7800 XT on sale for $480. We have to mention here that the $480 price is not great, as the RX 7800 XT launched in 2023 at $499. But once we see the current PC gaming landscape, the price becomes more palatable, especially since the RX 7800 XT has 16 GB of VRAM.

For instance, the mid-range RX 9060 XT 16 GB launched at $349 in June 2025. It is currently retailing for $459.99 on Amazon. The RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM came out in March 2025 at a price of $549. It costs more than $600 on Amazon at the time of writing.

So, the 16 GB RX 7800 XT for $480 is a good price in the context of current GPU prices.

With that out of the way, let’s look at the performance of the RX 7800 XT. In our testing, the RX 7800 XT 16 GB is 36% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB in 3DMark Time Spy Graphics. The RX 7800 XT is also considerably faster than the RX 9060 XT 16 GB and is only 13% slower than the RTX 5070, according to our benchmarks.

The RX 7800 XT is perfectly suitable for AAA QHD gaming at elevated graphics settings. For instance, we measured: 

• 92 FPS at QHD with very high settings in Ghost of Tsushima
• 85 FPS at QHD with very high settings in Horizon Forbidden West
• 90 FPS at QHD with high settings in Dragon’s Dogma 2

If you reduce the resolution to FHD, the RX 7800 XT can even push many games above 100 FPS.

Finally, if you like the current price of the RX 7800 XT and want to buy it, you’ll have to hurry up as Amazon has apparently already sold more than 50% of the available inventory at the time of writing.
