The world's first OLED gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate is now available for pre-order. Samsung has begun taking orders for the Odyssey OLED G6 in Southeast Asian markets. The monitor is available for SGD 1,488 (€1,024 or £864.27).
The 27-inch G60SF display features a 500Hz refresh rate, with a response time of 0.03ms (GTG) and a QHD (2560 x 1440) QD-OLED panel. The panel has been certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 at 10% Average Picture Level (APL) at a brightness of 1000 nits with a minimum of 800 nits. Samsung says it measured the performance at 3% APL with HDR enabled, and peak brightness set to "High".
The panel is also Pantone certified, meaning it can output over 2100 colors with 110 skin tones from Pantone's library. It's also compatible with Nvidia's G-SYNC and AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro.
To help with burn-ins, Samsung has fitted the monitor with a dynamic cooling system to diffuse heat and a thermal modulation system that automatically adjusts brightness. The monitor can also detect static elements in an image, like logos or taskbars, and can dynamically reduce brightness to prevent burn-ins.
The Odyssey OLED G6 has a peak brightness of 1000 nits and glare-free technology to help reduce reflections on the surface. Samsung says the monitor "delivers vivid, true-to-life visuals that bring gaming worlds to life just as developers intended."
The monitor will be available first in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, followed by a global rollout later this year.
