Dell revamped its product lineup with sleeker branding at CES 2025. Like the XPS and the Latitude series, the company’s Inspiron line of multimedia notebooks also got a branding update.
Marketed under the new “Dell XX Plus” moniker, Dell unveiled two new multimedia laptops at CES 2025, the Dell 14 Plus and the Dell 16 Plus. Both laptops are based on the Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V APUs and have corresponding 2-in-1 convertible models. As we noted in our launch coverage, the new Dell 14 Plus and 16 Plus are well priced for the hardware they bring. Best Buy has now made the larger 16-inch Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 an even better deal.
Users can currently buy the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 laptop for $300 less than the list price (linked at the end). The final price of $1,299.99 makes the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 an extremely lucrative option when we look at the hardware.
On the inside, the Dell 16 Plus convertible laptop on sale is powered by a top-of-the-line Core Ultra 9 288V Lunar Lake APU with the Arc 140V iGPU, 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, and 1 TB of storage. Intel Lunar Lake APUs are outstanding when it comes to energy efficiency. Combined with a respectable 64 Wh battery, we can expect the Dell 16 Plus to last a good while on a single charge.
Shifting our focus to the outside of the machine, the 16-inch touch-sensitive 2-in-1 display is the highlight of the machine. The panel should be a joy to use as it boasts a QHD+ resolution and Mini LED backlighting. Dell claims the panel hits 600 nits of brightness, covers 100% DCI-P3, and has a 90 Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the Mini LED backlighting, the display should also offer plenty of contrast and brightness in HDR.
The rest of the Midnight Blue chassis of the model on sale incorporates a backlit keyboard with a numpad, a spacious trackpad, and an FHD webcam. Dell has also opted for a good port selection with:
- Two Type-C ports with DP and PD (one Thunderbolt 4)
- One Type-A connector
- One 3.5 mm audio jack
- An HDMI 2.1 output
Curiously, Dell markets the laptop to creators but fails to include an SD card reader. Fortunately, the problem is easily solved with a Type-C dongle.
All in all, the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 laptop is a serious multimedia contender for both the average consumers and creators.
