Rumor | The foldable iPhone might come with Apple Pencil support
According to multiple leaks, Apple is working on its first-gen foldable iPhone, so as to catch up to other OEMs such as Samsung and Huawei. However, according to a new tip published in the industry blog EqualOcean, it will not make it to the market until 2023.
Then again, the same outlet now also asserts that the "iPhone Fold" will come rounded out with Apple Pencil support at that juncture. This might make sense, as Samsung is now thought to release its own first foldable device with S Pen support in 2021. Then again, the foldable iPhone's latest leak suggests that it will take a form more like that of the Galaxy Z Flip rather than the more book-like Galaxy Z Fold.
Therefore, the Apple take on the flexible device might have a main display of 7.6 inches across diagonally at the most. In addition, it is hard to imagine how a Pencil might snap onto a clamshell as it does onto some iPads. Therefore, should a folding iPhone really have a stylus-compatible screen layer, it might not have this additional convenience. This, however, might still be preferable to the iffy in-Lightning-port placement of the initial Pencil types.
