Earlier, the appearance of a new OPPO phone with what seems to be the Dimensity 1000+ processor and 8GB of RAM gave rise to speculation that it is the Reno5 Pro, meaning it and its vanilla sibling will launch soon. Now, a device with the same model number has appeared on TENAA, 3C and the HDR10+ approval websites, more or less confirming that this is in fact the case.

Update: The PDSM00 and PDST00 are confirmed as Reno5 Pro 5G SKUs through a new HDR10+ certification. Therefore, it seems they will indeed launch soon with this additional display spec in tow.

Recently, a device called the OPPO PDST00 popped up on Geekbench, detected as using the Dimensity 1000+ SoC to run Android 11. This leak led to rumors that this is the Reno 5 Pro, which, judging by its forebears, is a premium mid-ranger that might launch soon. Now, the same model number has been certified by the Chinese regulators 3C and TENAA, suggesting that this might indeed be the case.

The new documentation from the latter has images that show a rear panel with a lot of the Reno4 series' design language, down to the 3 large LG Velvet-esque pores. However, they are joined by additional components, as this device has been declared to have quad 64+8+2+2MP rear cameras.

This "Reno 5 Pro" will also launch with a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, although TENAA does not list information that might point to an up-to-date refresh rate. Its processor is down as a 2.64GHz chipset, which might indeed confirm the presence of the Dimensity 1000+, paired with 8 or 12GB of RAM in this phone.

Its battery capacity is rated at 2125mAh by 3C and TENAA. This might look a little strange in 2020, but probably means it is a dual cell, and thus actually 4250mAh, power-pack. 3C also reveals that it can charge at up to 65W. This PDST00 also has a second variant, PDSM00, which is also now listed on TENAA with no discernable differences from the other.

Therefore, it looks like this phone will be a relatively high-end 5G device with a potentially decent display and SuperVOOC charging for a medium-sized battery. Then again, OPPO has yet to formally acknowledge it, so whether it will launch as the Reno 5 Pro remains to be seen.

My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
