The education market is full of ruggedized and compact laptops, but not many have a quick-charging stylus included for taking notes. That’s where the Asus BR1100 steps in.
The BR1100 packs an Intel Celeron N4500 or Pentium Silver CPU, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to a 128 GB eMMC drive, and up to a 1 TB M.2 SSD into a ruggedized convertible case. Thanks to a rubber bumper running around the edge, the BR1100 can survive drops up to 47 inches and features a spill-resistant keyboard surrounded by an Asus BacGuard antibacterial frame.
The device has a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Type-A ports, a single HDMI port, a microSD card reader, WiFi 6, optional 4G LTE, and an Ethernet jack.
The BR1100 is loaded with features, including a TÜV Rheinland-certified display for low blue light emission, a microphone with 3D noise reduction that eliminates up to 94% of background noise, a sliding webcam cover, and an outward-facing LED light on the lid for various signals.
One key feature is an optional active stylus that can detect up to 4096 levels of pressure. This stylus comes in a convenient slot on the left side that quickly charges it; a quick 15 seconds in the slot can power the stylus for up to 45 minutes, according to Asus.
The Asus BR1100 will be available in Q1 2021 in North America. Pricing was not announced as of press time.
